Tours of The Abbey as a group Tours of the Abbey for individuals
There are two ways of seeing The Abbey.
If you are a member of a recognised group or society, you can visit at almost any time by prior appointment. We welcome groups all year round and although many of our visitors come from historical societies and groups such as Probus and U3A, we welcome everyone who has an interest in seeing the house and learning more about its fascinating history.
If you are a group organiser, you may wish to visit us before bringing a group along. We operate familiarisation visits for group organisers every autumn, where you can join other group organisers to find out all about The Abbey. You will get the same tour that your group members will receive, but you can also talk to us about any particular preferences your group might have. There is a nominal charge of £10 for the guided tour and refreshments, but this is refunded if you bring a group during the twelve months following your visit.
While you're with us, we will tell you about other places worth
visiting in the area, so that you can make a full day of it for your group
if you wish. Please email us using the Contact form, or call us on:
01376 561246 if you are interested in finding out more.
We recognise that there are a lot of people who want to visit places
of interest without necessarily belonging to a group or society. That is
why we are members of Invitation to View, a consortium of historic
houses and gardens throughout the UK that allows people to visit on selected dates throughout the year. Bookings are made through
Invitation to View http://www.invitationtoview.co.uk
where you will find full details of the scheme and more about
the many other houses and gardens you can visit.
